turning dreams into reality

I thought we’d start from the start, don’t worry it won’t be our whole life story, just snippets.

When Jamie and I finished University, there was a four storey shop for let in Leicester, where we lived at the time. Our minds ran away and we planned how we could live, work and make from there. We would live on the top floor, the floor below, would be our workshop where Jamie could make furniture, and the bottom two floors would be our gift shop. Ironically, the shop did become a gift shop, sadly not ours but a lovely one at that, and many moons ago when I used to make cards they were stocked there.

Jump forward 30 years, and here we are with a house in the country, a studio in the garden, a workshop for Jamie’s makes, and soon to be, a teeny tiny shop. Sometimes those dreams can feel like distant memories, but sometimes they have a funny way of weaving their way back into your head and becoming your new reality.

Our home in the countryside where we live, work and try to enjoy simple pleasures

Our little slice of the countryside

We have had moments during those 30 years where having a shop has been so very nearly in reach, but gone again, so instead of waiting for an opportunity to arise, we are going to make our own opportunity and build our own shop. Crazy? Daft? Genius? Only time will tell.

One thing I do know is that Jamie loves a project and has the vision. The storing of wood because it may sometimes be useful, means we are building from scratch, hopefully without spending a penny, or very few.  If you followed us with our previous business Bread & Jam, you may well have seen our journey converting a derelict farm house into our home, the Ugly Betty van days, or the Trailer Swift transformation for our festival adventures. A challenge maybe, but its one we will rise to.

We hope you are here with us for the journey, cheering us on, picking us up, laughing undoubtedly, but hopefully finding it all rather inspiring.
